Position: Lead Cook/Manager


The Summer Food Service Program feeding 120 Camp Umoja elementary to high school scholars at All Peoples Church is a partnership between Camp Umoja and All Peoples Church funded by USDA. This is a start up program to serve southern cuisine balanced with local/fresh food for weekday breakfast, lunch and snack. Goals are to create full, happy bellies and a safe community of good memories. Meals will be prepared in the Harambee kitchen and served at both Harambee and Havenwood campus’. Program dates from June 26th until August 4th. 


Summary of Position: The Summer Good Program Lead Cook/Manager will be the person making the food happen and the staff on site to who all supporting staff and volunteers will answer to. 

Responsibilities: 

● Plan menu with Summer Feeding Program Coordinator and Assistant Cooks to meet program requirements and provide tasty, good food. 

● Purchase food and supplies. 

● Maintain records of purchases and report those to Summer Food Program Coordinator. 

● Maintain records of meals served (proves that meals met requirements) and maintain records of the number of meals served daily. 

● Complete weekly inventory. 

● Plan daily production schedule and prepare and serve daily meals. 

● Ensures food safety and sanitation requirements are being followed. 

● Clean-up ( dishwashing and cleaning work area) and ensure kitchen and facilities ready for St. Vincent staff to prepare dinner meal by 2:30 pm. 

Lift heavy cartons and containers. 

● Follow state and local food safety and sanitation protocol. Qualifications

● The ability to develop positive, effective and fun working/ team relationships with staff, children & families, volunteers, community members and other agencies. 

● Ability to operate convection ovens, stove, dish machine, and serving units. 

● Experience planning, prepping and preparing food for large amount of people. ● Ability to accurately count, record, and maintain inventory for food production records. 

● Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. 

● Ability to performance in a fast paced work environment. 

● ServeSafe certification and experience with commercial food handling encouraged to apply. 


Compensation: $11-$15 per hour | Full time, seasonal work | Training full day June 19th, Program dates from June 26th until August 4th.

Position: Assistant Cook/Driver


The Summer Food Service Program feeding 120 Camp Umoja elementary to high school scholars at All Peoples Church is a partnership between Camp Umoja and All Peoples Church funded by USDA. This is a start up program to serve southern cuisine balanced with local/fresh food for weekday breakfast, lunch and snack. Goals are to create full, happy bellies and a safe community of good memories. Meals will be prepared in the Harambee kitchen and served at both Harambee and Havenwood campus’. Program dates from June 26th until August 4th. 


Summary of Position: The Cook Assistants will be the final facilitators of the Summer Food Program. They are crucial in maintaining a smooth flow of daily operations. 


Responsibilities: 

● Prepare cooking ingredients by washing and chopping vegetables, fruit, cutting meat, etc. 

● Setting up room for the kids to eat. 

● Clean-up ( dishwashing, cleaning work area, taking out trash ) and ensure kitchen and facilities ready for St. Vincent staff to prepare dinner meal by 2:30 pm. 

● Transport meals to 2nd site in employee provided, insured vehicle.

● Follow state and local food safety and sanitation protocol. 

● Knowledgeable and enforce reimbursable meals regulations. 

● Maintain records of meals served (proves that meals met requirements) and maintain records of the number of meals served daily. 

● Lift heavy cartons and containers. 

● Stocking/sorting all ingredients in storage so that they are organized and accessible. 


Qualifications:

● The ability to develop positive, effective and fun working/ team relationships with staff, children & families, volunteers, community members and other agencies. 

● Current driver license with good driving record.

● Ability to operate convection ovens, stove, dish machine, and serving units. 

● Ability to performance in a fast paced work environment. 

● ServeSafe certification and experience with commercial food handling encouraged to apply.
